Sheffield People’s Theatre (SPT) is our intergenerational theatre company for anyone aged 12+ with a shared passion for creating great theatre – both on-stage and behind the scenes. This company creates bold, exciting work, with at least one major production taking to one of our stages each year, alongside a range of free skills development workshops, events and other opportunities.
This season, SPT members took part in one of three intensive residency weeks with professional companies Frantic Assembly, Barrel Organ and Show Stoppers. During these residencies, participants developed skills in theatre-making, devising, political and physical exploration. These week-long residencies culminated in a sharing in either the Crucible or Studio Theatre. As well as this, some SPT members are played Ensemble parts in our ★★★★★ sell-out show, Standing At The Sky's Edge.
In previous years, SPT have taken on roles in every department to create brand-new full-scale productions for our Crucible and Studio stages such as Songs from the Seven Hills and What We Wished For. Roles have included performing, stage management, directing, musical directing, band members, technical teams and more. Being part of SPT also gives you access to monthly skills development workshops with theatre professionals as well as other opportunities to learn more about our theatre and the industry.
