Step into 2026 with a visit to the Tanya Moiseiwitsch Playhouse. From January, hear from new voices, discover different stories and take a look at the world through a fresh lens with a host of vibrant productions live on stage, visiting Sheffield on tour or forged here in the city.
Written and directed by John Rwothomack (Far Gone), Kubulaya: Away From Home is a new sharing by Roots Mbili Theatre, taking a bold new look at the high rate of separation among sub-Saharan African couples who migrate to the UK. Infused with Zambian folk music and a blend of African and Western storytelling traditions, it delves into how culture, finance, and faith intersect to test the bonds of family and love. This work-in-progress theatrical sharing is in the Playhouse on Wednesday 14 January and will be followed by a Q&A for ticket holders.
Poetry, grime and dance unite in Debris Stevenson’s (Poet in da Corner, Royal Court) explosive new play My Brother’s a Genius- a Sheffield Theatres, Theatre Centre and National Youth Theatre of Great Britain co-production - runs in the Playhouse from Wednesday 28 January - Saturday 14 February 2026. Daisy and Luke are twins navigating life in a high-rise estate, where ambition and self-doubt collide. Both have labels thrust upon them: Daisy the “idiot” and Luke the “genius”, but will their shared dream of flying launch them up together or crash them apart? An energetic two-hander, Debris’ lyrical writing blends poetry and grime to create immediacy and accessibility, capturing the intensity and emotion of young people’s experiences in a humorous exploration of neurodivergence, sibling rivalry, the weight of expectations and finding our own ways to fly.

From bar room brawls to a bourbon biscuit cabaret - get ready, this is Rachel’s Perfect Show. Exploring who defines artistic taste and questioning who that currently excludes, Perfect Show For Rachel is created by Zoo Co, a multi award-winning company creating theatre that loudly champions access.
