



Brand new productions will be touring to the Lyceum, Playhouse and Montgomery, bringing the best of dazzling musicals, comedy, ballet, drama and more to Sheffield. In addition, Sheffield Theatres will host a new festival of theatre in the autumn, spanning the Playhouse and Montgomery. Into 2027, the Playhouse will host the inaugural production from the recent winner of the Women’s Prize for Playwriting.
Lyceum:
The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, starring Jill Halfpenny (After the Flood), Francesca Mills (Silent Witness) and Paul Chuckle (The Madam Blanc Mysteries), comes to Sheffield in a major new production of Jim Cartwright’s modern classic. Alone in the sanctuary of her small bedroom, Little Voice fills the air with pitch‑perfect renditions of her deceased dad’s prized record collection of the great Divas, from Judy Garland to Billie Holiday. But when her mother Mari's latest fling, local wheeler dealer Ray, hears her sing he’s certain he’s struck gold. Will Little Voice be pushed into a spotlight she never asked for? A joyful, tender and bittersweet celebration of music, ambition and the courage it takes to be heard. Following sell-out tours of Murder on the Orient Express and Death on the Nile, Fiery Angel reunites with director Lucy Bailey to bring this darkly seductive new staging of one of Agatha Christie’s most compelling mysteries The Hollow, from Tuesday 23 – Saturday 27 March 2027. At The Hollow, an elegant country estate, a glamorous circle of guests gather together one summer evening. But beneath the sunlit charm, something darker coils. A body is discovered. Choreographed by David Nixon CBE and set to original music by celebrated composer Claude-Michel Schönberg (West End and Broadway's Les Misérables and Miss Saigon), Emily Brontë’s gothic masterpiece tears itself from the pages and onto the stage.
Set over two chaotic days of passion and intrigue, English Touring Opera's new production of Tosca is epic drama at a human scale, playing from Thursday 29 - Friday 30 April 2027. Rome struggles under the shadow of war and the tyrannical chief of police, Scarpia. An idealistic artist is facing execution, and only the singer Tosca can save him from his fate. The stage is set for a twisted game of cat and mouse with the highest of stakes.
The chilling cultural phenomenon The Silence Of The Lambs makes its world stage premiere, coming to Sheffield from Tuesday 4 – Saturday 8 May 2027. Based on Thomas Harris’s gripping literary masterpiece, and starring renowned actor John Partridge (EastEnders, Everyone’s Talking About Jamie, Cabaret) as Hannibal Lecter, this electrifying new play sets the definitive psychological thriller loose. When FBI trainee Clarice Starling is sent to interview the psychiatrist and infamous murderer Hannibal Lecter, it’s hoped his brilliant mind will help catch sadistic new serial killer, Buffalo Bill. Bernard’s got a problem, but his mum and dad are too busy to notice. Through physical comedy, a live soundtrack performed on instruments and household objects, and an enormous purple monster, this show explores big themes of attention, imagination, and being heard, offering lots to talk about for both children and adults. Across the Playhouse and Montgomery this autumn, Open Works, a first-of-its-kind festival for Sheffield Theatres, will celebrate theatre artists from across South Yorkshire and beyond in a coming together of creatives that will expand Sheffield as a dynamic hub for new writing, bold experimentation, and diverse artistic voices. From Monday 28 September – Saturday 10 October 2026, theatre-makers and theatre-lovers alike can enjoy a programme of events from world premieres to scratch nights, to rehearsed readings and works in progress.
