We’ve had a blast with The Ladies Football Club here in the Crucible, both on and off stage! As part of Extra Time - the wraparound activities that supported the production - our teams:
- Hosted a morning of free to attend activities at Football in the Square. Almost 400 people took part in the activities inspired by The Ladies Football Club which include Life Drawing, Cone Attack and Penalty Shoot Out.
- Provided fascinating insights into the history of women’s football and the women who paved the way right here in Sheffield. Exhibition banners across the foyer gave audience members and passers-by alike the opportunity to learn more about these incredible women.
- Spoke to more than 80 people from across Sheffield to hear their experiences of the beautiful game and turn their stories into an audio exhibition.
- Collaborated with community partner groups to create football scarves and chants, celebrating the value of team spirit.
- Created an interview-style media desk with the support of local business sponsors, perfect for that post-match photo opportunity!
- Engaged in work between Sheffield Theatres and Frantic Assembly, reaching over 200 people across schools, community dance organisations and more with movement workshops and teambuilding activities.
- Partnered with Sheffield Home of Football to offer a series of free to attend talks. More than 200 people came along to find out more about the history of women in football, the stories behind new, local teams, and the creation of The Ladies Football Club.
- Welcomed teachers and students to Unlocking workshops and performances, giving young people the opportunity to engage more deeply with theatre. A total of 13 secondary schools across the region came to see the show, totalling 481 students and teachers.
We opened up our doors to the people of Sheffield, and we’re happy that so many people were able to join us!
