



New touring theatre will be coming to Sheffield in 2027, including musicals, comedy, ballet, drama and more across the Lyceum, Crucible, Playhouse and Montgomery theatres.
Touring to the Lyceum:
Set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s, Chicago makes its return from Tuesday 2 – Saturday 6 March. Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer, murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago’s slickest criminal lawyer to transform her malicious crime into a barrage of sensational headlines. With a score including the show-stopping ‘Razzle Dazzle’, ‘Cell Block Tango’, and ‘All That Jazz’, Chicago is the multi-award winning and the longest running American musical in Broadway and West End history.
A show with humour, heart, unforgettable songs, fabulous choreography, and a few sparkly top hats - get ready for “One Singular Sensation” with A Chorus Line, presented by Croft House Theatre Company from Tuesday 16 – Saturday 20 March. Exploring the lives and aspirations of Broadway auditionees - the iconic ‘A Chorus Line’ – this celebrated musical reveals their hopes and dreams, their struggles and challenges, and the pressures and triumphs of a life on the stage. Featuring renowned musical favourites, ‘What I Did For Love’, ‘I Hope I Get It’, ‘Nothing’ and the instantly recognisable, ‘One’.
Legendary 70s folk-rock pioneers Lindisfarne will play at the Lyceum on Saturday 1 May. Returning with a classic five-piece line up of long-time members, fronted by original founder-member Rod Clements on vocals, mandolin and slide guitar, join them for unforgettable songs like Meet Me On The Corner, Fog On The Tyne, Lady Eleanor and Run For Hom. Iconic, emotive and everlasting: danced to Tchaikovsky's stellar music played live, Northern Ballet’s new Swan Lakereimagines the classic story, playing from Thursday 21 – Saturday 23 October, co-produced with Ballet de l’Opéra National de Bordeaux. Sheffield Theatres’ Launchpad company of Learning Disabled and/or Autistic adults present A Night to Remember; a cabaret night of festive delights from Tuesday 1 – Wednesday 2 December. Expect music, dance, comedy, pantomime, and a little showbiz magic. They even promise a guest star, but will they make it to the show on time?!
D is for Dyslexia plays on Thursday 28 January. Matthew Tweedle presents a fun and playful show that charts his personal history with dyslexia and how his neurodivergence has shaped what he expects from his life. Lively, honest, and full of character, D is for Dyslexia dispels dyslexia myths and explores what it is to live in a world surrounded by letters when you don’t know how words work.
What happens when our deepest urges are shrouded in shame? What happens when we can’t articulate our desires, even to ourselves? Red Ladder Theatre Company presents Close Enough to Touchfollows a man who has a girlfriend … and a secret. In this gripping, intimate drama, audiences are taken into the world of cruising – anonymous sex in public places. As the nameless character’s secret builds, so does his shame. Moving between passion and pathos, follow his struggle to find pleasure, acceptance and – crucially - the language to express himself. At the Playhouse on Thursday 11 February.
You’re invited to Womb Partyon Thursday 18 February. Fanny and Gina try, fail, and try again, to host a vibrant party of fun and games, but their celebration of their most magical abode keeps getting interrupted by unwanted thoughts and uninvited guests. Layered with dance, theatrics and real-life stories from outside of the womb, this interactive dance theatre show explores themes of choice, bodily autonomy and reproductive justice. The Bare Project presents Branches, Hands and a Ticking Sound on Friday 19 February. A sharing about forests and the future, this multimedia work-in-progress show takes inspiration from contemporary biology and ancient folklore, with a soundscape created from field recordings of the inner workings of trees. Dealing with the collective sense of what is possible and what is not, this subject is explored from a very different perspective.
A fast-paced, hilarious and joyfully chaotic show, 48 Thoughts Per Minuteis about all the things we think but do not say, presented by The Paper Birds and developed in collaboration with comedian Jessica Fostekew from Wednesday 24 – Friday 26 February. From mirror-based self-reflection, to 3am catastrophizing, embark on a high-speed journey through one woman’s unstoppable cascade of thoughts, leaping through memories, imagination and internal conversations at breakneck speed. Audiences are invited to reflect on the private space inside each of their heads, capturing the hilarious, vivid and sometimes intrusive thoughts that shape our inner worlds.
James Rowland returns on Saturday 27February for the tenth anniversary of his heart warming and breaking solo show, Team Viking. When James’ best friend Tom was diagnosed with heart cancer and given three months to live, his last wish was to have a full Viking funeral. So James gave him one. A fantastical puppet adventure for all, At Seais an uplifting tale of a sailor’s triumph over darkness by Life and Limb Puppets, in association with Alphabetti Theatre. Non-verbal, with stunning projections and original music, a Sailor loses their way after having their heart compass stolen. Their quest to get it back takes them through a coral reef, a siren's lair and to the very bottom of the ocean. Will they ever find their way back to the surface, or will they end up trapped in the belly of the beast who steals sailors' hearts? A heart-warming family show for anyone aged 6+, playing on Saturday 6 March.
A powerful new dance-theatre show about young, Northern female empowerment and identity Reviving Herby Northern Rascals plays on Tuesday 9 – Wednesday 10 March. Stumbling upon a cavernous space, we meet 6 women. Disorientated and confused, they try to make sense of where they’ve found themselves. They embark on a reflective and intimate journey, visiting their past, present and future selves. Told in the brave, fearless and honest voices of young women from Yorkshire, Reviving Heris a call to arms; a battle cry for a world where women can resurrect their authentic selves; to a place of love, acceptance and strength.
Award-winning theatre maker Victoria Melody presents Trouble, Struggle, Bubble and Squeak on Saturday 3 April. After a divorce, Victoria joined a historical re-enactment society. Spending weekends as a Musketeer trying to get her head straight, she uncovered the story of a bunch of 17th-century radicals called The Diggers - and everything changed. What started as a personal search for happiness turned into a quest to find the Diggers of today. Blending storytelling and stand-up, past and present collide in this tale of high jinks and resistance. Directed by Mark Thomas, Trouble, Struggle, Bubble and Squeak celebrates the ordinary people still shaping history.
Theatre Centre presents Touch Grass by Christopher York, a platonic Rom-Com about an offline adventure, plays on Saturday 13 March. Steen has switched off his phone, put it in a shoebox and buried it in his mum’s back garden. A whole month since xo_BB_ox last logged on, he fears the worst. With no phone and only £7.20 in his young savers account, Steen embarks on a coast-to-coast search for a best friend he’s only known as an online avatar. Based on conversations with young people across the UK, Touch Grass is the trip of a lifetime, travelling through friendship between genders, the online forces that shape young men, and nostalgia for an unplugged life never lived.
Colour in Motion is a vibrant new performance created especially for babies aged 0–12 months and their carers, playing on Wednesday 24 March and presented by Half Moon and created by Daniel Naddafy. This lively, movement-based show invites its youngest audiences into a world where colour and motion are deeply connected. Designed as a sensory-rich experience for babies and carers, it explores and encourages movement in a way that feels natural, playful and engaging—made for babies, with babies at its heart.

Celebrating 40 years in standup comedy, Jack Dee presents Jack’s Joke Show on Wednesday 10 February. Who doesn’t like jokes? If your answer to that question is “Me!” then steer well clear of this show. Jack takes us on a memoir of all his favourite old stories, jokes and funny anecdotes that have intrigued him for as long as he can remember, offering a glimpse of the influences that led him into and helped shape his comedy career. Guaranteed no new material.
Front Room Productions and Lawrence Batley Theatre expose the sensational trial for Humpty Dumpty’s murder in a new fairy-tale inspired musical, The Uncrackable Case from Wednesday 10 – Saturday 13 March. This hilarious, tongue-in-cheek show reimagines the classic rhyme, combining tabloid media, conspiracy theorists, and familiar fairy-tale faces, all through the toe-tapping joy of musical theatre. New Dawn Fades, the funny, moving and powerful story of Ian Curtis and the rise of Joy Division, returns in a re-energised production on Thursday 13 May. Set against the backdrop of the post-punk explosion in 1970s Manchester, four ordinary young men come together to form one of the most influential bands of all time: Joy Division. Blending humour, drama and music, follow the band’s rapid rise from Manchester clubs to the brink of international success, to Curtis’ tragic death in 1980, to the worldwide success of the remaining members as New Order.
Poor Mouse! A Bear has settled in his favourite chair - and it just isn’t big enough to share. Touring to the Crucible:
Tea is our national drink and our national obsession. Historian, author, presenter and award-winning film-maker David Olusoga visits the Crucible on Saturday 6 February, using art and photography, history and humour to uncover the strange and unexpected history of the British cup of tea. Linking over 350 years of British history to the histories of China, India, the Caribbean, and the United States, it is a story that involves industrial espionage and a vast forgotten migration within India, and the creation in Britain of a whole new world of domestic traditions.
Sarah-Louise Young (Fascinating Aïda) returns with An Evening Without Kate Bush on Thursday 25 March. Paying glorious homage to the music, fans and mythology of one of the most influential voices in British music, howl with the Hounds of Love and dance on the moors with Wuthering Heights! Olivier Award winner and Tony Award nominee, Layton Williams is taking to the stage for his nationwide tour: Layton Live on Thursday 1 April. The Seniors Snooker World Championship returns to the Crucible from Thursday 6 – Sunday 9 May, bringing together 24 players from across the globe to compete for one of the sport’s most prestigious titles, won last year by Ronnie O’Sullivan. With a host of star names set to be announced soon, anticipation is already building for another unforgettable event.
