Rolling Residencies are for theatre creatives based locally to Sheffield Theatres who would benefit from space, structure, and funding in the development of a project or idea.

We are interested in supporting exciting new projects and ideas at early stages of development from theatre creatives of all disciplines based in South Yorkshire.

The Rolling Residencies are about giving artists resources to support them to reach the next step of their project. This “next step” might be the writing of a new draft of a script, working with collaborators to answer a key question, or getting a project up on its feet in a new way.

We will be offering two pots of £600 and two pots of £2,000. We will be ring-fencing one of the £2,000 pots to support a project that has previously been supported through the Rolling Residencies programme. By doing this, we want to make sure that artists in our region are able to meaningfully update and involve Sheffield Theatres in the continued development of their projects.

Activity taking place as part of Rolling Residency Window 7 must conclude before the end of July 2026.

Artists can only apply once to each Application Window, multiple applications to the same window will be ineligible.

How to apply

You must complete a Rolling Residency Window 7 application form and submit it as part of this application.

This form will ask you for the below.

• Your name and pronouns.

• Your contact email address.

• Your postcode.

• Which residency you are applying for (£600 / £2,000)

• Whether your project is eligible for the ring-fenced funding pot by being previously supported through the Rolling Residencies programme

• To tell us about you and your creative practice (in around 150 words)

• If you have additional lead artists or key creative partners, to tell us about them and their creative practice (in around 150 words per individual)

• To tell us about the project that you want to develop (in around 200 words)

• To tell us about the development that you will undertake as part of this residency (in around 200 words)
