Sheffield Theatres are looking for a Making Room Observer to join the company of Summer Holiday throughout rehearsals.

Making Room Observer opportunities are for aspiring and early-career theatre creatives based locally to Sheffield Theatres who want to familiarise with professional rehearsal practice.

Who might benefit most from observing the process for Summer Holiday?

This opportunity is ideal for someone who has a passion for musical theatre and who is keen to learn about the process of making a large-scale musical production, which involves ambitious staging, music, and movement.

We’re looking for an individual who is curious about the end to end rehearsal process and wants to gain first hand insight into how a creative team collaborates to bring a major musical to life.

Details

Making Room Observers are invited to observe one day each week of rehearsal, two days of technical rehearsals, and are also invited to attend a preview and opening night.

Fee

The Making Room Observer for Summer Holiday will receive a £350 fee to support their attendance and observation of the rehearsal process.

Timeline

• Applications are now open and will close at midday on Wed 25 March 2026.
• Interviews will take place on Wed 1 April 2026.
• A final offer will be made by the end of April 2026.
• The rehearsal period begins on Mon 18 May 2026.
