In a run-down flower shop on Skid Row, a meek and kind florist named Seymour works for the grumpy Mr Mushnik and has a secret crush on his co-worker, Audrey.
One day, he discovers a strange, unique plant that starts to grow rapidly and becomes a local sensation. Seymour names the plant Audrey II, and it begins to sing and talk, promising Seymour a life of fame and fortune if he can provide it with the right food.
As the plant grows, it starts demanding more and more, and Seymour must figure out how to keep feeding it, leading to funny and silly scenarios as he tries to satisfy its unusual appetite. He also has to deal with the bossy Mr. Mushnik and the local dentist who is mean to Audrey.
Eventually, Seymour realizes Audrey II is a very demanding and powerful creature, and he must learn the consequences of getting everything you want without working for it.
The story is a fun musical adventure with a lesson about being careful what you wish for.
