About
Open Works Festival Presents performance ready, ÌLỌ́YÁ.
Mokan has it all figured out. Get the dream job at Shell. Build his father that house. Marry his sweetheart Sade. Simple. Except Lagos has other plans. Through jobs that vanish lovers who betray and a father whose time runs out Mokan learns that dreams don't always follow the script you write for them. With nothing but a backpack full of hope and letters he never got to read he makes one final gamble on a new beginning. But just when you think you've escaped your past it finds you at an airport with a letter that changes everything. Funny heartbreaking and painfully real this is the story of what we carry when we leave home and what we leave behind.
Reviews
A real feel of African culture. Storytelling so clear, funny, entertaining and moving at the same time.
It’s beautiful to watch somebody who’s written something and perform it by himself, you know its heartfelt. This is amazing, you are constantly in there with them, its so intimate- I was just blown away.
