Crucible at 50

Happy Birthday to us!

We’re celebrating 50 fabulous years of The Crucible. This big birthday offers a fantastic opportunity to look back on 50 years of groundbreaking theatre, to celebrate all the shows we’ve shared, the magical memories made and the friendships forged.

Being able to share this extra special year with you is the best present. Find out about all the 50th shows, events and celebrations below.

50th Season of Shows

We've a jam-packed year of bold and brilliant shows to wow our audiences. We're reimagining classics, showcasing new work, grappling with climate change and returning to Park Hill with a well-loved musical, not to mention the ambitious trilogy of plays that unifies all three of our spaces in one big celebratory theatrical experiment.

Snooker in the 50th Anniversary year

The Crucible plays host annually to the World Snooker Championships, and for our 50th anniversary, Betfred World Snooker wanted to pay tribute to our hard-working staff who make the international sporting event happen every year. Watch the short film to hear what Snooker means to us and our teams.

We held our annual Fundraising Gala on Thursday 26 May - a 50th Anniversary special - to generate support for the next 50 years of theatre in Sheffield. The event was supported by Investec Wealth and Investment as headline sponsors and raised a huge £74,210 through ticket sales, donations and fundraising on the night! We are so grateful to everyone that supported the event. The funds raised will help us keep investing in talent, working with our communities, developing Dementia Friendly projects and creating brilliant work on our stages as we head into our next 50 years.
