A Cuban take on the dance favourite, Nutcracker in Havana explodes onto the Lyceum stage following a sell-out tour, featuring new choreography by Carlos Acosta CBE and performed by his Cuban company, Acosta Danza. Set to an exuberant Cuban version of the magnificent Tchaikovsky score, the timeless story is brought to life with ballet at its core with Cuban dance traditions beautifully woven throughout the much-loved and joyful family tale. This spectacular treat comes with a little Havana heat. From Wednesday 7 – Saturday 10 January.
Ready to thrill you with fun and naughty moments, Richard O’Brien’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical The Rocky Horror Show returns for another party in Sheffield from Monday 12 – Saturday 17 January. Seen by over 35 million theatregoers, two squeaky-clean college kids, Brad and his fiancée Janet, meet the charismatic Dr Frank’n’Furter and embark on an adventure they’ll never forget. Filled with fun, frolics, frocks, and frivolity, and featuring timeless classics, including Sweet Transvestite, Dammit Janet, and of course, the pelvic thrusting show-stopping Time Warp.
Effervescent, elegant and exhilarating,Irving Berlin’s Top Hat
comes to Sheffield from Tuesday 20 – Saturday 24 January. Based on the classic 1935 film starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Top Hat is a heady romantic cocktail laced with sparklingly witty dialogue, stunning choreography, lavish sets and gorgeous costumes. Irving Berlin’s irresistible score includes some of Hollywood’s greatest songs including Cheek to Cheek, Let’s Face the Music and Dance, Top Hat White Tie and Tails and Puttin’ on the Ritz.
Aaron Sorkin’s riveting, award-winning stage adaptation of the seminal American novel about racial injustice, To Kill A Mockingbird, became a Broadway and West End sensation. Now, this thrilling courtroom drama comes to the Lyceum from Tuesday 27 January - Saturday 7 February. Set in 1934 Alabama, successful lawyer Atticus Finch encourages kindness and empathy in his children, but is pushed to the limits of these qualities himself when he resolves to uncover the truth in a town that seems determined to hide it.
The award-winning, smash-hit musical The Bodyguard is back, from Tuesday 10 - Saturday 14February, starring Sidonie Smith as Rachel and Adam Garcia as Frank. Former Secret Service agent-turned-bodyguard, Frank Farmer, is hired to protect superstar Rachel Marron from an unknown stalker. Each expects to be in charge – what they don’t expect is to fall in love.
