One World Choir
1.00pm - 1.40pm
Introducing…. Sheffield One World Choir! They are a group of refugees, asylum seekers and other local people who have come together to sing. They started in early this year and are proud that our group already has a rich heritage, drawing people from several African countries and the Middle East as well as the British Isles. Come and hear their songs, which reflect our cultures and the excitement we find in singing together!

Hassan Salih Nour
2.30pm - 3.30pm
Born in Gabet, Eastern Sudan, singer and multi-instrumentalist Hassan Salih Nour performs as a solo artist with his oud and tanbura (bowl lyre), and in collaboration with other artists, such as traditional Sudanese percussionist Ibrahim Disco.

Yaaba Funk
5.00pm - 6.00pm

Trying not to dance is like trying to eat gum without chewing. Yaaba Funk are one of the leading groups on the UK’s contemporary Afro scene since their formation in Brixton in 2006. With a deep love of African music, funk, jazz and eclectic dancefloor grooves. Yaaba Funk released their first album Afrobeast on their own Yaabaphone label in 2010. Fronted by Richmond (Chief Commander Yaaba) Kessie and Helen (Lady Yaaba). Yaaba Funk starts with Ghanaian Hi-life and brings in James Brown grooves, Sun Ra jazz, Parliament-Funkadelic jams, and more than a hint of mind-altering dub.
