The Andrea Project: Discover Tomorrow's Playwrights
Support young Sheffield writers and enjoy their voices in this special performance of short plays. Out of Joint theatre company and Sheffield Theatres have been working with eight talented Sheffield teenagers from diverse backgrounds to give them the skills, ambition and opportunity to become playwrights.
Our participating writers have been given a course of workshops with playwright Stacey Sampson. Now they're each writing their own short play - inspired by our upcoming show Close Quarters- they'll see them performed by professional actors.
Want to hear what young people from Sheffield care about? Come and be entertained by these brilliant and imaginative writers as they share their work on a professional stage.
About The Andrea Project
Inspired by playwright Andrea Dunbar, who grew up on a Bradford council estate and had her first play staged at London's Royal Court Theatre when she was 18, The Andrea Project exists to inspire young people with a passion for writing to become playwrights, whatever their background.
Thanks to generous donations we've been able to keep The Andrea Project completely free so as to make it as accessible as possible. We even offer to cover all travel costs. We're very grateful for your support.
