MOZART Fantasia in F minor K.608 (arr. Iain Farrington for Ensemble 360)
WAGNER Overture to Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (arr. Iain Farrington for Ensemble 360)

Our festival ends with three more giants of Romantic music in chamber music mode, together with a short new work from recent University of Sheffield graduate Ellen Sargen. Bruckner’s Quintet has the full serenity and grandeur of his symphonies but Puccini’s Crisantemi is a stark contrast to his emotionally super-charged operas – it is a dignified elegy on the death of a friend.

We close with a newly commissioned chamber version of Wagner’s Meistersingers Overture by Iain Farrington, whose Shostakovich Jazz Suite arrangements were such a success in 2016.
