The playing is intense and refined, exploratory and poised. This is real chamber music.

SCHUBERT String Quartet No.13 in A minor D.804 Rosamunde

The Chiaroscuro Quartet present contrasting masterpieces from the string quartet repertoire. Beethoven’s Quartet in C minor is a powerful and urgent piece, full of dramatic intensity, while a profound melancholy pervades Schubert’s lyrical Rosamunde. In this concert the quartet will also be championing the music of Fanny Mendelssohn, whose Quartet in E flat reveals a composer of immense imagination and the very highest technical ability.
