Learn to drum with Ayan De First and the Oduduwa Talking Drummers!

Participants will learn how to play African drums and will play together as an ensemble, learning about and enjoying the sound of the unique West African Talking Drum before having a go. There is also the chance for participants to perform alongside the Oduduwa Talking Drummers on the Lobby Stage Saturday 27 October.

This workshop is led by celebrated artist and drummer Ayan De First. Ayan has exhibited paintings around the world, including in Nigeria, Togo-Lome, Ivory Coast, France, Germany, Italy and Spain. Since the early 1990s, Ayan has given concerts, shows and educational workshops in over 500 community and private schools in the UK and Europe. He has performed at the Royal Festival Hall, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Royal Albert Hall, the African Centre, and was chosen to play before Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace during the Golden Jubilee anniversary. In 1999, Ayan formed the first ever talking drummer troupe in the Western region: the Oduduwa Talking Drummers.
