This week, it was announced that The Moor will be supporting Sheffield Theatres' Dementia Friendly performance of Guys and Dolls on 8 January 2020.
As part of this brand new partnership, Sheffield Theatres will be providing Dementia Friendly training with retailers, and on Friday 29 November, will be popping up on The Moor with a Guys and Dolls singalong, craft activities, and to provide information to the public on being a Dementia Friend.
Amanda Phillips, Centre Manager for The Moor said: “The Moor is delighted to be part of this collaboration with Sheffield Theatres. It is great to link these two city centre destinations. The Moor will benefit from Sheffield Theatres expertise in dementia because we, like the theatres, want to provide a welcome to everyone whatever their situation, and with the training offered by the team at Sheffield Theatres we can increase our knowledge and capabilities to ensure we spread understanding too. I’m looking forward to the beginning of what we intend to be a mutually beneficial and entertaining partnership.”
Dan Bates, Chief Executive of Sheffield Theatres, said: “We know the arts offer a unique opportunity to support people living with dementia and are very proud of the work that we do across our theatres to provide a space for everyone.
“Through our partnership with The Moor, we’re able to offer a new opportunity for both staff and shoppers on the Moor to receive training to become more dementia aware, and to learn more about what they can do to make a difference."
