Show Boat and Flowers For Mrs Harris lead UK Theatre Award Nominations

Sheffield Theatres has received eight nominations at the UK Theatre Awards.

Clare Burt has been nominated for Best Performance In A Musical for Flowers For Mrs Harris and Emmanuel Kojo and Rebeccca Trehearn have both been nominated in the Best Supporting Performance category for their roles in Show Boat. Both Flowers for Mrs Harris and Show Boat have been nominated for Best Musical Production and Lez Brotherston received a nomination for Best Design for his work on both of these Sheffield Theatres’ productions.

The full Sheffield Theatres nominations are as follows:

Best New Play: Cuttin’ It – A Young Vic/Royal Court Theatre production with Birmingham Repertory Theatre, Sheffield Theatres and the Yard Theatre.

Best Musical Production: Flowers For Mrs Harris

Best Musical Production: Show Boat

Best Touring Production: A Raisin In The Sun – An Eclipse Theatre Company, Belgrade Theatre Coventry and Sheffield Theatres Production

Best Performance In A Musical: Clare Burt for Flowers For Mrs Harris

Best Supporting Performance: Rebecca Trehearn for Show Boat

Best Supporting Performance: Emmanuel Kojo for Show Boat

Best Design: Lez Brotherston for Flowers For Mrs Harris and Show Boat

Sheffield Theatres’ new Artistic Director Robert Hastie has also been nominated for Best Director for his production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at Theatr Clwyd.

The awards, which recognise theatre outside of London, will take place on Sunday 9 October.
