Sheffield Theatres launches new Summer School to inspire the West End stars of the future
This summer, Sheffield Theatres introduces a brand new intense one-week course for young performers aged 14-20 who are interested in a career in Musical Theatre.
In an extension to the popular Summer School programme, a new course specialising in Musical Theatre will run from Mon 8 – Sat 13 August. It’s a fantastic opportunity for talented youngsters to learn tips and tricks of the trade from West End performers, who will lead Master Classes in dance, drama and singing. Participants will also learn about choreography, staging, audition techniques and much more. The Summer School will conclude with a showcase at the end of the week on the Crucible Stage.
In recent years Sheffield Theatres has established a reputation for outstanding productions of musicals with hit Christmas shows like Show Boat (which transferred to the West End last month), Anything Goes, Oliver and My Fair Lady. This May Sheffield Theatres will bring a brand new musical, Flowers for Mrs Harris, to the Crucible stage. Now this expertise will be shared with the next generation of performers, helping ensure local talent is nurtured.
The Musical Theatre Summer School costs £275.00, with a limited number of subsidised bursary places available. Entry onto the course is by audition, and these will take place on Saturday 7 May. There is no cost to audition, anyone wishing to attend must complete an application form and book a time slot. Full details can be found here.
