With 10 groundbreaking British student shows, 10 exciting international student shows and 200 workshops from leading theatre professionals, the International Student Drama Festival is 9 days of extraordinary theatre from the world’s rising stars!
Highlights include the USA’s Harvard University presenting CryHurtFood, an emotional story based on the real-life events concerning one family and a chimpanzee; a version of Thornton Wilder’s classic play Our Town from Georgia’s Shota Rustaveli Theatre & Film State University and Wake In Fright, La Trobe Student Theatre and Film, La Trobe University and the Festival of Australian Student Theatre’s production set in rural Australia. Closer to home, Leeds-based DugOut Theatre Company present Inheritance Blues, a performance that combines comedy, live music and a cappella singing; Newcastle University’s Theatre Society bring Stephen Sondheim’s musical Sweeney Todd to life and Aberystwyth University present the world premiere of Howard Barker’s previously unpublished play, Five Names.
Accompanied by 200 workshops* from names including Maureen Lipman, Willy Russell and Sheffield Theatres’ own Daniel Evans the festival productions will be judged by a panel including acclaimed playwright John Godber, award-winning American actor Richard Schiff (Toby Ziegler in the West Wing) alongside Rani Moorthy and Robert Hewison

Tickets for individual events at ISDF cost just £5.00 and are available from Sheffield Theatres’ Box Office. Day tickets for 1, 3, 6 and 9 days are also available to purchase from the ideastap website
Tickets for individual ISDF events are available daily from the Crucible box office until 12 noon. After this time tickets for individual events will be available for collection from the event venue.
*Please note: Workshop sessions are only available to day ticket holders.
