With advice and encouragement from members of Ensemble 360

Year 12 and 13 AS and A2 level music students perform their prepared pieces and receive feedback and encouragement from pianist Tim Horton and oboist Adrian Wilson (17th February); bassoonist Ben Hudson and violinist Sara Bitlloch (10th March). As in previous years, thanks to a generous donation from two friends of Music in the Round, the most promising Y12 and Y13 performers will receive an award to help them further their musical careers.

If you would like to be involved contact Polly Ives on 0114 281 4660, or email polly@musicintheround.co.uk. Tickets to watch are FREE from the Ticket Office; you don’t have to stay all day, so come along and celebrate the talent of these young musicians.

A brand new and exciting educational experience - a concert with a difference.

The concert takes the form of a journey, transporting the children from the sacred temples in ancient China to the mighty pyramids in Egypt. There are many stops along the way to explore the strange and exotic sounding reed and bamboo instruments that are found in the far corners of the world. During the journey there will be plenty of opportunities for the children to participate. As well as experiencing the thrill of a live performance, the children will learn about pitch, tempo, dynamics and much much more.

Hear the cor anglais, the haunting sound of the Turkish Duduk, the brilliant sound of the Chinese Shawm, the comic sound of the Indian Snake Charming Been and many more. How did the Pan-pipes get their name? What is a Moszmat?

The performances last approximately one hour. The 10.30am performance is recommended for Key Stage 1 and 2pm for Key Stage 2. Visit their website for more information www.reedallaboutit.com
