Beethoven Duo for Clarinet and Bassoon in C WoO.27 No.1
Britten Three Divertimenti for string quartet
Charlie Piper New Work for Sextet
Mozart Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in A K581
Ensemble 360 brings us a fusion of old and new, featuring pieces by three of the masters of classical music alongside the first commission by Music in the Round‘s newly appointed Associate Composer Charlie Piper. His piece is inspired by Britten, whose centenary we celebrate in 2013.
Britten’s Divertimenti, written when he was in his early twenties, brim with youthful energy. They were originally part of an unfinished suite intended as a series of portraits of the composer’s old school friends.
Beethoven’s Duo for Clarinet and Bassoon is a witty miniature, contrasting Mozart’s passionate Clarinet Quintet, which takes the listener on a sweeping journey through human emotions.
A chance to hear more from Ensemble 360 and Music in the Round’s Associate Composer, Charlie Piper.
