Cuban Voices, Sheffield Voices

Get ready to be transported to a balmy summer evening in Santiago de Cuba.

Come and be thrilled by the exquisite singing of Sheffield children and Camerata Vocal Musica Áurea, a world class choir from Cuba, led by award winning director Delvis Sanchez.

As part of their visit to Sheffield and the UK this summer, Áurea will be running workshops and performing at Lowfield, Byron Wood, Westways and Bradway Primary Schools, King Edward VII Upper and Lower Schools and Sheffield Music Academy.

This event will see the young people from all these schools performing Cuban songs with Áurea and other work from their repertoires, culminating in a grand finale performance of Cuba’s best known song, Guantanamera. Latin rhythms will be provided by Firs Hill drumming group.

Crucible

The Crucible is the main producing venue in the Sheffield Theatres complex. On occasion, the Crucible hosts touring work. The Crucible is also the home of the annual World Snooker Championship.
The performance area is a thrust stage which extends into the auditorium, enabling the audience to watch the action on three sides. No member of the audience is ever further than 22 metres from the stage, and the sightlines are excellent, offering equality of experience across the auditorium.
