Mike’s recent work includes: St Erkenwald,
a modern miracle
play written for the RSC’s medieval season (The Other Place
directed by David Hunt); a translation of Uncle Vanya,
with
Derek Jacobi (Chichester and transferred to the West End
and Broadway); Fortune’s Fool - an adaptation
of Turgenev’s short play; Impecuniousness
- starring Alan Bates (Chichester and Edinburgh and tour 1996),
a translation of Three Sisters with Charles Dance
as Vershinin directed by Bill Bryden (Birmingham Rep 1998); the
Tony Award-winning Broadway production of Fortune's Fool
directed by Arthur Penn and starring Alan Bates (March-July 2002)
and, most recently, Euripides’ Ion directed
by David Hunt (Colchester Mercury June 2004).
Mike is currently under commission from the RSC to adapt
Mallory's Le Morte d'Arthur as well as Chaucer’s
The Canterbury Tales – both in 2 parts.
