Introduction
The activities and tasks in this section are aimed specifically
at GCSE Drama students and are designed to address the criteria
for Paper 1 Unit 2 of the Edexcel GCSE Drama Specification.
However, it goes without saying that the activities can be used
in accordance with any other specification or simply as a means
of developing student’s drama skills and appreciation of the
text in general.
The ideas outlined in the section Lesson
Activities form a 3 hour workshop which was delivered to a number
of Sheffield secondary schools in January and February 2004. The
workshop can, of course, be split into smaller sections for delivery
to your own students. The Presentation Tasks
are further areas of development, within small group work, although
again they can be adapted to your own particular needs. These were
originally used by teachers and students after the workshop and
culminated in a series of short dramatic presentations that each
school performed on the main stage of the Crucible Theatre on Wednesday
11 February 2004 under the title of The Crucible GCSE
Drama Project.
