Welcome to Sheffield Theatres web resources for The Crucible.

This website resource has been written specifically for students aged 14 upwards but also for anyone who wants to learn more about The Crucible play and our production.

It contains useful background information on the playwright and play as well as extensive information focusing on the creation of the production.

It also contains performance information as well as details regarding other theatre and educational events which support the production.

Additionally, if you are a teacher of secondary school pupils, there are also extensive lesson resources and ideas available, as well as information regarding our GCSE Drama Project.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Anna Mackmin and her company for their kindness in allowing us into their rehearsals and sharing their thoughts with us in the interviews. We would also like to thank the Designer, Lez Brotherston, for his kind permission in allowing us to use his designs for the set and costumes in our resources.
