Iphigenia - a free adaptation by Edna O'Brien
Crucible Theatre:
Wednesday 5 February - Saturday 1 March 2003

Production

This section of our website is focussed on the creation of our production of Iphigenia, which will be performed on the Crucible stage from Wednesday 5 February to Saturday
1 March 2003.

This information will be updated as our production is created - so you will have access to the decisions as they are being taken during the rehearsal period. If you visit the site regularly you will read how the rehearsals are progressing, and be able to watch the creation of costumes, lighting and set designs.

Greek Drama & Euripides

A section to give you some background information on Greek Theatre and The Festival of Dionysus, a map of Aulis, where this play is set, and an index of stories of Greek Gods, Godesses and myths. Included here also is Edna O'Brien's essay for the programme and a piece putting Iphigenia into context.

Textual analysis

A section including textual comparison between Edna O'Brien's version of Iphigenia and Arthur S.Way's 1912 translation, and an opportunity to read the opening scene of Edna O'Brien's version.

The entire website is printable - just click on the print button in the top right hand corner of each page.

We hope that this new venture will enable you to learn more about the creation of our work. Please email us and let us know what you think! education@sheffieldtheatres.co.uk
