Theatre Exchange
Your chance to dip into the secrets of theatre! This series of sessions for older people gives participants the chance to sample and explore different aspects of theatre and related arts through talks, discussion, visits and practical workshops. Workshops are informal and include tea and coffee. Includes a visit and backstage tour to York Theatre Royal* and the National in London*.

The Play's the Thing
Become part of Sheffield Theatres informal monthly play reading group. Receive a play each month to read before the session and come along to share extracts and discuss. This session includes tea and coffee.

Perform
Go West
Delve into the themes, setting and character relationships within the play True West by Sam Shepard. Work with a drama practitioner over 6 weeks to develop a performance inspired by this play. The piece will be performed in the Crucible theatre to an invited audience of family and friends.

Summer School
Join us for two weeks of workshops and master classes in theatre and acting at our new Summer School.
Over the period you will learn skills and techniques, culminating in
a brand new performance given to your friends and family. Sheffield
Theatres staff, including Associate Director Ruth Carney, will bring their
expertise in theatre and supervise students in spaces across the
theatre complex.
Master Classes will include:
Voice Workshop: Led by a specialist voice practitioner. This class will work on voice projection.
Singing for Actors: The basics of singing are taught by a specialist singing teacher, working on confidence and skills.
Creating a Character: Learn how to bring a character to life through hip-hop dance. Led by Hype Dance.

Theatre Design
Explore and experience Theatre Design. This workshop offers you the chance to become a designer for the day and bring a script to life in this practical workshop. The day is ideal for those wishing to discover more about the creation of the physical world of plays, and develop an understanding of the design profession. No previous experience is necessary. All materials will be provided.

Learn about the role of sound and light within the theatre by spending a day with Sheffield Theatres Chief Electrician and Head of Sound.
